01. Mescalinum United - We Have Arrived - PCP/Industrial Strength
I was 11 when this was released. First heard it in Sleeves Records in Falkirk. They put it on in the shop and instantly what I liked changed. No more breakbeats. I wanted this disgusting, aggressive stuff. This is and always will be the best track ever produced.
02. Strychnine - The Sacrifice - Industrial Strength
First heard at my first proper rave, played by Lenny Dee at Rezerection Event 2 and the first track I ever played to a crowd. Sal Mineo is a genius of a producer.
03. Traffik - Point Break - Statik Records
250 BPM of dark, nasty, relentless hardcore. Traffik is one of the finest all round artists the UK has ever produced, this is a prime example of why.
04. DJ Freak - Korea - Hard of Hearing
Freak is another who just didn’t disappoint. His sound was the UK equivalent of Kotzaak. When you’re the man behind the Hard of Hearing and Boneheddz labels you need to be able to deliver the hard stuff, and Freak always did.
05. Stickhead and Don Demon - Demonhead - Kotzaak Ultd.
This is how hardcore techno should sound
06. Zeed - Sexline (Raped Mix) - Red Head Records
Poorly produced but utterly brilliant stuff from Loftgroover. A track that seemed to be played by Lofty and HMS any time I seen them, and it always did the damage.
07. UVC - Half Dead - Industrial Strength
Another Sal Mineo production. This track always caught my attention as it sampled The Prophecy. To be fair I could have taken any track from this release to be in the top 10 and it would have deserved to be there.
08. Xylocaine - Vampire - Bloody Fist
Not a track I heard played often. In fact I’m sure I only heard Mark N play this but it’s brilliant. Sounds terrible but superb simultaneously. Like all most Bloody Fist tracks it had that dark edged humour. This one uses samples to great effect. Hang the horse!
09. Skullblower - Hidden Dark Steel - Special Forces
No top 10 hardcore list could ever be complete without something from Lasse Steen. Probably there finest producer capable of fusing hardcore techno, speedcore and acid.
10. Brandon Spivey - Reality Asylum - Deadly Systems
Heavy hardcore acid material. As well as the superb production in this release, the artwork was also pretty mad, and this track on my record played from the inside to out. It took me a few minutes to work out what was going on with it when I first bought it. I wish more hardcore still made like this
