Due to its opaque and tenebrous nature, the world of Hardcore Techno has always been hard to explore and apprehend. Information can be difficult to come by, there is very little documentation available. Interviews, biographies, communiques, and other material that could throw some light on matters is very rare indeed.
Yes, there are some well-known artists, labels, even festivals by now. But there is also a vast world beyond that, of hundreds of more artists, labels, and events; a true uncharted ocean of sound-waves; an uncharted cavernous underground.
This database aims to provide a small amount of information, facts, and knowledge about this cultural movement. The focus is on one of its most interesting and fruitful eras: the 90s decade.
Hardcore began in the 90s; Hardcore grew strong in the 90s (and it even withered for its first time in the 90s).
This database will not focus on the aforementioned, well-known "big names" of the scene; because there is already plenty of information available about these all over the internet, in media, and in other places.
It will focus on the "wild and wonderful", the freaks, the outsiders, that often had to lurk in the shadows, but created wonderful music, art, true sonic poetry!
The database is aimed at newcomers, enthusiasts, journalists, and all the other people who want to "dig deeper" and discover this bizarre but truly beautiful world of dark and aggressive audio excursions.
